LED Display Procurement Guidelines

Concerning the purchase of LED display screen, many customers do not know how to buy cost-effective products, there are many users in the Internet to collect information in this area, but they are always not satisfied with the answers.The following are some factors that should be considered on the purchase of the LED display.

The first point: need to understand what is the general aspect ratio of the display?

1, graphic screen: determine according to the contents of the show.

2, video screen: generally 4: 3 or close to 4: 3; the ideal ratio is 16: 9.

The second point: what factors should be considered for the screen size design?

1, display content;

2, space conditions;

3, the display unit module size (indoor screen/outdoor screen). 

The third point: need to understand how many points the control system can control.

Communication screen A card: monochrome, color 1024 x 64 pixels

Communication screen B card: monochrome: 896 x 512, two-color: 896 x 256

DVI color screen: 1280 x 768 pixels

DVI full-color screen: 1024 x 512 pixels

The fourth point: need to understand the display power consumption and power requirements.

Display power consumption is divided into the average power consumption and maximum power consumption. Average power consumption, also known as work power, is usually the actual power consumption. The maximum power consumption is the amount of power consumed during extreme conditions such as startup or full lighting. The maximum power consumption is a factor that must be taken into account in AC power supply (wire diameter, switches, etc.). The average power consumption is generally 1/3 of the maximum power consumption. The display is a large precision electronic equipment, in order to safe use and reliable work, the AC220V power input or connected to the computer's AC220V power input must be grounded.

Fifth point: need to understand the difference between indoor full color dot matrix and full-color SMD module.

1, light-emitting part: module full-color display module is generally yellow-green, pure green module price is more expensive; patch full-color screen generally use pure green die;

2, display effect: the module full-color pixels, visual feeling thicker, lower brightness, easy to have mosaic phenomenon; SMD full color consistency is better, higher brightness;

3, maintenance: full-color module is not easy to maintain, the whole module replacement cost is higher; and patch full-color easy to maintain, and can be a single lamp repair and replacement;

Sixth: Why is the outdoor screen production time longer?

1, raw materials procurement: LED lamp procurement time is longer, especially for imported LEDs, ordering time takes 4-6 weeks;

2, Production process complexity: subject to PCB design, shell production, filling plastic, white balance, and so on;

3, structure of strict requirements: the general design of the box, to be considered wind, rain, lightning and so on.

Seventh point: need to consider the factors of the installation site for what kind of screen area can allow.

1, the effective view distance and actual size on site;

2, pixel pitch and resolution;

3, estimate the screen size

4, screen body mechanical installation and maintenance of operating space;

5, impact for the screen body angle on the distance;

Eighth point: need to understand the requirements of the screen brightness based on the environment. General brightness requirements are as follows:

1, indoor: >800CD/M2

2, semi-indoor: >2000CD/M2

3, outdoor (sitting south): >4000CD/M2

4, outdoor (sitting south): >8000CD/M2

In a clear brightness and density requirements of the conditions, how to calculate the brightness of LED lights?

The calculation is as follows: (two red, one green, one blue as an example)

Red LED brightness: brightness (CD)/M2 / dots/M2 x 0.3 /2

Green LED brightness: brightness (CD)/M2 / dots/M2 x 0.6

Blue LED brightness: brightness (CD)/M2 / dots/M2 x 0.1

For example: 2500 density per square meter, 2R1G1B, brightness per square meter requirements for the 5000CD / M2, then:

The brightness of the red LED is: 5000 / 2500 x 0.3 / 2 = 0.3

The brightness of the green LED is 5000 / 2500 x 0.6 = 1.2

The brightness of the blue LED lights: 5000 / 2500 × 0.1 = 0.2

The brightness of each pixel is: 0.3 x 2 + 1.2 + 0.2 = 2.0CD

Ninth point: factors to be considered for the screen’s display effects.

1, text display: depending on the size of the text and resolution requirements;

2, ordinary video display: 320 x 240 pixels;

3, digital standard DVD display: 640 x 480 pixels;

4, a complete computer video: 800 x 600 pixels.

Tenth: need to understand the outdoor LED display design and installation problems.

1, the combination of the LED screen body and building must be strictly waterproof and leak-proof. The LED screen should have a good drainage measure. In the case of water, it can be successfully discharged;

2, to install lightning protection devices in the display and buildings and to maintain a good grounding in the display body and shell. Grounding resistance is less than 3 ohms, so that lightning caused by large current can timely discharge;

3, installing the ventilation equipment for cooling, so that the screen body temperature can maintain between -10-+40 degrees Celsius. Installing axial fans behind the top of screen body, that can discharge heat;
